YOLO Travel
February 16 to the 23. The flight from Houston was easy. It only took about 3 hours to get to San Jose and warm weather. Day 1 - We spent the first day with a light hike to get acclimated. The highlight was spotting both spider and howler monkeys and learning the meaning of SMU. Day 2 - We went zip lining on a whole different scale. On the Garmin Fenix watch we clocked about 47 mph with the longest line being about a half mile. This was preceded by a 180ft rapel down a waterfall... Day 3 - 7.5 mile hike up a mountain to a volcanic crater lake. Some of us attempted to swim across - caused some shrinkage and only 2 of the 3 made the actual swim. Incredible day and was physically demanding. Day 4 and 5 - We were on the river - rafting class 3 and 4 rapids. The night in between was at a river camp - best night of sleep the whole trip. You couldn't tell if you were hearing the river or the rain. Plenty of Bavaria... Day 6 - 37 mile bike ride... who knew you were supposed to wear sunscreen under your bike hat... try a mile climb at probably a 20degree incline. Grueling unless your the wildman from California... Day 7 - Home....
We went with a guided adventure trip through REI. They did a fantastic job and added depth to our travels.
